I probably shouldn’t spend so much on dining as I did in the past week, but since I did, I might as well jot them down. I recommend all three of these places.

Momofuku Ssam Bar (2nd Ave. and 13th St.) - a revamped menu and a real sit-down dinner restaurant after 6PM daily. Try their rice cake dish (a not-so-spicy yet very tasty rendition of dduk boki) as well as their squid salad. Go alone, bring a friend, take your whole posse - lots of young faces eager to try and re-try David Chang’s inventions (bonus: New York Magazine’s profile of David Chang and why Ssam Bar’s menu has changed)

Enoteca Barbone (186 Ave. B b/w 11th & 12th Sts.) - probably a better draw in the summer with its outdoor seating, but still an excellent place to get some quality Italian dishes and wines for a reasonable price. I really enjoyed the Pappardelle (braised short rib ragu) and chicken liver ravioli with balsamic brown butter. Don’t go with groups larger than 4 - better if it’s only two people.

Le Miu (107 Ave. A b/w 6th and 7th Sts.) - try the inventive chef’s special sashimi platter which includes combinations like Japanese sea scallops with fresh peppercorn and fluke with jalapeno. Excellent quality sashimi in a small, quiet space.
