Super Bowl XLI
Monday, February 5th, 2007There’s no better excuse to eat a high-calorie, artery-choking meal than the Super Bowl, which is THE place to have as much grease, meat, beer, and carbs as you’d like. We hosted a small Super Bowl gathering at our apartment and served a great menu of tasty football staples. We bought much of our ingredients from FreshDirect, courtesy of a $50 promotional discount.

What made the meal special was the presence of our newly purchased cast-iron griddle for our kitchen stove. Instead of heating up burgers on a frying pan, we were able to properly grill them (grill marks and all). This griddle is highly recommended, especially if you like to cook meat at home or even if you like to make pancakes (on the flat side) on Sunday mornings.

Our Super Bowl XLI menu consisted of:
guacamole & chips, mac’n'cheese (using cheddar and gouda), premade cole slaw, a burger station (more below), waffle fries, cake, strawberries, ice cream, and a lot of beer.
The burger station consisted of:
handmade beef patties (onions, various spices), gorgonzola cheese, swiss cheese, pepperjack cheese, Boston lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, ground dijon mustard, and wheat buns.
And of course, lots of beer, conveniently chilled on my fire escape balcony.
